How much is VA disability compensation in 2026?

Rates rose 2.8% (the 2026 COLA), effective December 1, 2025. At 100% a veteran with no dependents receives $3,938.58/month; at 50% it's $1,132.90; at 30% it's $552.47. Ratings of 30% and higher add money for a spouse, children, and dependent parents. (VA.gov 2026 rate tables.)

Do dependents increase my VA disability pay?

Only at 30% and above. Ratings of 10% and 20% are flat amounts with no dependent adjustment. From 30% up, you get added amounts for a spouse, each child, dependent parents, and a spouse who needs Aid and Attendance.

Is VA disability compensation taxable?

No. VA disability compensation is not subject to federal or state income tax. The amounts here are what you receive — there is no withholding.
